Who should attend the 2008 Choosing to Lead: Meeting Challenges with Grace and Humor luncheon?

The Choosing to Lead program is designed for the mid- and senior-level women leaders from throughout Iowa, who are committed to advancing their leadership knowledge and skills. A woman makes many conscious decisions that make her a leader ¨C choosing to lead, instead of standing on the sidelines. This year's luncheon explores the skills necessary for gracefully balancing demands on time, talent and treasures.

How did the idea from this conference come about?

The program is a response to an identified void in advanced educational programming targeted toward established female executives, elected officials, academics and other professional women. Originally spearheaded by Donna Katen-Bahensky, CEO of University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, the program grew with the addition of this luncheon and the 2009 conference already being planned.

Who plans the Choosing to Lead conferences and luncheons?

Choosing to Lead consists of a dynamic program defined by the most influential women leaders in Iowa's Technology Corridor. From CEOs of hospitals and corporations, to government officials and non-profit leaders, these women represent all facets of age, ethnicity and backgrounds. Their diversity encompasses the spirit of working together as they have created a relevant and vibrant program for women in mid- and senior-level management roles.

What can I expect to take away from Choosing to Lead: Meeting Challenges with Grace and Humor luncheon?

The objective of this luncheon is to inspire and challenge women to take action as leaders. It is designed to teach women leaders to successfully balance their aspirations, while taking care of themselves and their dreams. Attendees can expect tools and ideas on maintaining their personal poise with grace and humor.
