Welcome

Women leaders make a difference. They empower, challenge and inspire the people around them. As the Baby Boomer generation retires from the workplace, developing the next generation of female leaders is crucial to the future of many businesses and industries, as well as to our state and region, the U.S., and countries around the world.

The Iowa Women’s Leadership Conference (IWLC) began in 2007 to address a serious opportunity gap. Women in Eastern Iowa, at all levels in their careers and from all walks of life, needed access to more ways to learn about effective leadership, to strengthen their own leadership skills, and to network with other women seeking to become better leaders in their lives, careers, and communities.

Today, the IWLC is evolving from an organization devoted primarily to event sponsorship to a comprehensive statewide, nonprofit resource for all activities, events, opportunities, and organizations devoted to promoting women’s leadership. We seek to inspire and challenge women of all ages, ethnicities, backgrounds, occupations and professional levels through a dynamic exchange of ideas, leadership tools and motivational support from other women leaders.

I believe that to maintain focus in our lives, women must consistently renew our energies through learning and networking. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors – and especially my employer, Rockwell Collins – the IWLC is able to provide an ongoing source for rejuvenation and growth in the personal and professional lives of women across Iowa and beyond.

Welcome to the IWLC. I hope you will join us in taking charge and leading change.
